Tony, Thanks for the link to the video. I hope a lot of people watch it.
What I saw was the practice of spraying thousands of gallons of toxic VOC laden water into the dry desert air in order to speed up evaporation of the used fracking fluids. It is indeed mind blowing that in this day and age that in so many places in the US (poor rural places, usually) such a practice is still permitted. It's the reason why I've referred to the environmental protection infrastructure in states like Wyoming and Texas, among others, as "Third World." I can now add Colorado to my list of such states. More importantly, at least for me, the video continues to raise in my mind the moral question as to whether a region such as ours, where the regional economy is fueled by imported oil, natural gas and propane, has the right to continue to foist the environmental costs of our high standard of living off on poorer, less protected communities of the US and the world. This is being reviewed now in NYS and companies are approaching folks all over the Southern tier and CNY. Thought I'd share this with you.We can learn from those who have already experience the negative affects. Freida A friend sent this to me tonight and I was blown away by what I saw. This is a scary 12 minute video of people in Colorado exposed to mists & fumes from the volatile gases that are released in the fracking process. If nothing else, we need an immediate moratorium on the entire process until we have full disclosure of what the industry is using in fracking. Who will be held responsible for and pick up the tab on the damage done by this process? Will Americans and people of the Southern Tier of NY once again privatize the profits to the landowners & gas companies, and socialize the costs in ecological damage & the health and well being of us all? http://www.vimeo.com/1973850 Tony Del Plato -- "This is a subtle truth: whatever you love, you are".
