The potential for biomass district heating in Tompkins County will be addressed by Thomas Lund-Hansen, the featured speaker at Cooperative Extension's 2009 Annual Meeting and Local Foods Breakfast on Wednesday, November 18th.

Mr. Lund-Hansen is Vice President of 7T (7Technologies), a member company of the Danish District Heating Board that has planned and developed hundreds of district heating systems around the world, and is one of the leaders in moving Denmark from being a net energy importer to a net exporter. He has more than 20 years experience in the global energy industry and is currently heading up the Danish District Heating Board's entry into the Northeastern U.S. market.

Mr. Lund-Hansen will speak on "Biomass-Powered District Heating: What Is It?, Its Potential in Tompkins County, and Its Role in Creating Jobs and Affordable Housing"

The event will be held from 8:00-10:00am on Wednesday, November 18 at the Holiday Inn Downtown, 222 N. Cayuga Street in Ithaca. Tickets are $10/person and include a breakfast buffet of primarily local foods. Retiring CCE board and program committee members also will be recognized, and a brief business meeting to elect new board members will follow.
