Please check out this astonishingly biased "survey" put out by Assemblyman
Gary Finch (Cayuga, Cortland, Chenango, Tioga Counties).

Email Gary Finch at *[email protected] <[email protected]>** * and let him
know how you would answer these questions.

Assemblyman Gary Finch's Marcellus Gas Drilling Survey

Assemblyman Finch would like to know how you feel about the prospect of
drilling for natural gas in the 123rd Assembly district. Please answer the
following questions and return to Gary's office to ensure that he can best
represent you when it comes to drilling in our state.

1) Does your home or business use natural gas for heating, or any of its
many other uses?
YES, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE OTHER OPTIONS FROM THE GRID BESIDES N-GAS.
WHY CAN'T THE SUSTAINABILITY EXPERTS, ENERGY AND AG EXPERTS FIND A WAY TO
GIVE THEM TO ME. I AM WILLING TO TAKE SOME HARDSHIPS AND CONSERVE EVEN MORE
AS WE PREPARE FOR A POST-FOSSIL FUEL ECONOMY.

2) It is estimated that drilling could create almost 50,000 jobs across the
Southern tier and could bring in over $2 billion in revenue as well as more
than $250 million in taxes to help close the budget deficit. Do you support
the expansion of local economies and job creation by the formation of
drilling sites?
I WANT TO SEE A LONG TERM ECONOMIC STUDY BY REAL ECONOMISTS AND NOT SHILLS
FOR INDUSTRY. BOOM AND BUST AREAS DEPENDENT ON FOSSIL FUEL ECONOMIES OVER
THE LONG TERM DO NOT DO AS WELL AS THEIR NON-EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY
COUNTERPARTS.

3) The DEC has released an impact statement regarding the effects of
drilling on our environment. as of yet, no documented instances of
groundwater contamination have been recorded in New York from similar
drilling practices, and regulations and oversight for this drilling are very
strict. Are you worried about possible negative effects on the environment?
MR FINCH WOULD DO WELL TO LOOK AT THE 270 CASES OF DRILLING ACCIDENTS
RELATED TO OIL AND GAS, AND WOULD DO WELL TO STOP ADVANCING THE BLATANT LIE
THAT WHAT IS NOT LOOKED FOR DOES NOT EXIST. YES I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE
ENVIRONMENT AND SO ARE MANY PROFESSIONALS IN GEOLOGY, HYDROLOGY AND PUBLIC
HEALTH. THE ONLY PEOPLE NOT WORRIED ARE FOOLS AND SHILLS.

4) The cost of delivering natural gas escalates as the distance increases.
Do you support providing cheaper natural gas for homes and businesses? THE
GAS COMPANIES WILL CHARGE WHAT THEY WANT. WE ARE NAIVE TO BELIEVE THEY WILL
GIVE "LOCAL" RECIPIENTS A BREAK. WHY SHOULD THEY? MANY ARE MULTI-NATIONAL
CORPORATIONS AND THEIR MAIN GOAL IS TO SATISFY THEIR STAKEHOLDERS.

5) Producing fuel in New York could help reduce our dependence on foreign
oil. Would you prefer local, American made fuel sources over foreign
sources? HOW EXACTLY WOULD THIS WORK IF WE DON'T ADDRESS THE SOURCE OF OUR
ADDICTION? WE HAVE CANADIAN AND NORWEGIAN COMPANIES RUNNING OFF WITH
AMERICAN N-GAS PROCEEDS AND SOMEHOW THAT'S OK? ALSO, WILL WE BE IMPORTING
FRESH WATER IN 50 YEARS OR PERHAPS BUYING IT BACK FROM COMPANIES THAT HAVE
SECURED OUR WATER RIGHTS/

6) Natural gas has lower carbon emissions than coal and oil. With more
local natural gas, less usage of coal and oil will result in a direct
reduction of greenhouse gases. Are you in support of cleaner, more
sustainable fuel sources for our state? I AM IN SUPPORT OF SUSTAINABLE FUEL
SOURCES. HOW EXACTLY IS WATER INTENSIVE AND INTRINSICALLY POLLUTING
UNCONVENTIONAL GAS DRILLING USING HIGH VOLUME HYDRAULIC FRACTURING AND
HORIZONTAL DRILLING CONSIDERED TO BE SUSTAINABLE -- ESPECIALLY WHEN
PERFORMED IN A MAJOR WATER SHED AND FOODSHED?

7) Do you support drilling for natural gas in our district?
NO. TOO UNSAFE FOR REASONABLE AND PRUDENT PEOPLE. INDUSTRY LIES, CHEATS AND
STEALS. WE HAVE A WILD BULL RUNNING THROUGH OUR SOUTHERN TIER AND FINGER
LAKES.
