Community Food Gardening Volunteers
Seeking experienced and enthusiastic gardeners
who are willing to share their knowledge about
growing home vegetable and fruit gardens with
beginning gardeners and youth. Training will be
provided. Volunteers can assist in a variety of
ways from mentoring a group of beginning
gardeners to teaching classes. We will also
offer training to new gardeners who are
interested in starting or improving their home
gardens or those who would like to see more
gardening in their neighborhood. For more

2010 Master Composter Volunteer Training

promoting responsible composting in Tompkins
County. Training involves 20 hours of class time
covering composting in depth, and 20 hours of
practical internship. After completing the
training, Master Composters give back to the
community in a variety of outreach activities.

Citizen Pruner Volunteer Training Program

environment and why pruning is important in these

2010 Compost Fair

Celebrate springs arrival by stopping by the
fair for a guaranteed good time! See and
experience all aspects of composting. Learn more
than you ever thought possible about making and
using black gold. Teams of Master Composters
will be on hand to answer your questions. There
will be interactive displays, activities for kids
and continuous tours of our composting
demonstration site. Prize drawings will be held
at 3:30 pm for all attendees and everyone
registered on the Tompkins County Compost Map
(register by filling out a card at Cooperative
Extension or click on Get on the map! on our
website: ccetompkins.org/compost). Admission is
free and open to the public. See you at the fair!
