Dear Sustainability Friends: In preparation for the the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, the Center for Environmental Sustainablity invites you to attend a planning meeting from 5:30-7 pm on Monday, January 25 at the Old Jail Conference Room, 125 Court Street in Ithaca.
We’d like to encourage all of Tompkins County’s communities, large and small, to take part in this celebration in honor of our beautiful blue and green planet. This year, in a break from our traditional format, we would like to kick of Earth-week with a day of service on Sunday April 18th. The CES is offering to help your community organize volunteers and logistics to hold a sustainablity themed event such as a riverbank cleanup or re-usable shopping bag give-away. The possibilities are endless. Then in culmination of the many other area events, we invite you to break bread at a potluck on Saturday April 24th, where you can meet and network with others. While the Ithaca location has yet to be determined, please note, this will not be the usual tabling type event, but instead more of a time to share our stories on a more 1 to 1 level. Finally, on April 25th we are chartering a bus to go down to Washington DC for the National Earth Day Celebration on the mall. More information on this as it becomes available. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at [email protected] or (607) 351-0664. We look forward to seeing you!
