Slide Talk on Haiti Agriculture Project
Saturday, February 6, 2:00 pm
Cooperative Extension Education Center, 615 Willow Ave. Ithaca

Reenie Sandsted, owner of Baker's Acres in Lansing, will present a slide show about a project in rural Haiti that she has been part of since 1998. The Reforestation and Agriculture Education Project has emerged since 2005 in response to problems with hillside erosion that has repeatedly damaged the buildings on the school and church property that volunteers have helped to build.

The Reforestation and Ag Education project involves teaching Agriculture in the school and students help in the nursery that is on the school grounds. The trees that are grown are then planted on the hillsides to reduce the erosion problems. Reenie will talk about life in Haiti and how this project has been making a difference. Reenie chairs the Haiti Committee which is affiliated with the Lansing United Methodist Church and works through the Haitian Methodist Church.

This talk is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Seating is first-come, first served.
