Ithaca’s 2nd Annual Designing With Native Plants Symposium

Organized by Rick Manning, RLA, and Dan Segal of The Plantsmen Nursery

WHEN: March 5th & 6th (Friday and Saturday), 2010

WHERE: Cornell Lab of Ornithology

Topics covered center on the themes of sustainable landscape design using
native plants, and ways of improving our landscapes to enhance beneficial
wildlife habitat, as well as reducing our overall impact on the
environment. Native plants play a vital role in sustainable landscaping,
but the goal is to put several components together to combine knowledge and
techniques from multiple fields. Twelve speakers over two days will share a
balance of principles, ideas, and applied practices to illustrate their
approaches and highlight their experiences.

Ithaca’s Designing with Native Plants Symposium is the only symposium of its
kind in Central and Upstate NY, and benefits the Cayuga Waterfront Trail.
The symposium sold out last year with a waiting list. This year it is
expanded to two days to accommodate demand.

The symposium is intended for landscape architects, landscape professionals,
horticulturists, educators, students, gardeners, homeowners, and anyone else
who wants to learn more about ways to put the ‘green’ back into landscaping.

Registration info and all symposium details are found at the home page of
the Cayuga Waterfront Trail:
