If you are upset about the planned draconian cuts to our state parks in New 
York, including closing between 57 and 91 parks and historic sites, as well as 
the closing of swimming areas in a number of parks this year, it is important 
to contact your state legislators, most importantly your state senator I am 
told, and insist that he or she oppose this penny-wise pound-foolish squeezing 
of our beloved parks for budget pocket change.

I was inspired to write the following column this weekend, which I submitted to
