If you are upset about the planned draconian cuts to our state parks in New York, including closing between 57 and 91 parks and historic sites, as well as the closing of swimming areas in a number of parks this year, it is important to contact your state legislators, most importantly your state senator I am told, and insist that he or she oppose this penny-wise pound-foolish squeezing of our beloved parks for budget pocket change.
I was inspired to write the following column this weekend, which I submitted to the Ithaca Journal hoping they will publish it. Meanwhile, I have published it myself on my blog at http://owlgorge.wordpress.com/2010/03/08/new-york-state-turns-sour-at-buttermilk-falls/ Complete with photographs.
