A week from tomorrow, Saturday, March 27, is the day of Earth Hour. Bike Ithaca is holding its second annual Earth Hour Night Ride as our symbolic gesture of support for climate change action, and we invite you to join us -- turn off your lights and come for a bike ride around the Waterfront Trail in Cass Park followed by a ride for some beverages and conversation somewhere tba around the Commons.

Things will begin around 7:45 by the turtle in Cass Park. We'll start on the ride about 8:00 (which is just about at the end of civil twilight). Bring lights if you have them; a few will be available to lend out. Bring rear red blinkies if you have them, but we'll have a bunch of them to give away to those who don't.

While most of the lights will probably be battery powered -- and, thus, not really any kind of answer to climate change -- there will also be a number of bikes with generator hubs powering their lights. These are an incredible iimprovement over the generators that were available decades ago; come have a look at these amazing gadgets that make riding at night a breeze.

But, come.
