ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell Sustainability Office ( www.sustainablecampus.cornell.edu/ ) and Cornell Center for a Sustainable Future ( www.ccsf.cornell.edu ) are promoting April 2010 as the "2nd Annual Cornell Sustainability Month", with over 30 public campus and community events, related to the breadth of sustainability activities at Cornell. Building on President Skorton's commitment for Cornell to be climate neutral by 2050 and the recent news that Cornell will 'Go Beyond Coal' in 2011, this year's Sustainability Month theme is 'Climate Action and U'.

Featured events include:

Einaudi Chair Lecture: Why Social Scientists Should Engage with Natural Scientists Lowe will discuss science policy and how recognizing the way knowledge and research are organized is crucial to the pursuit of sustainable development.

Greeks Go Green Clothing Swap
Join Greeks Go Green for first annual clothing swap. Bring unwanted clothing items in good condition and exchange them for items brought by others. Items remaining at the end of the event will be donated to charitable organizations in the Ithaca area.

Insights from furbearer trapping and waterfowl hunting in New York State

April 21, 3:00-5:00 p.m., Weill Hall Atrium
NYSERDA High Performance Award and On-Campus LEED Building Showcase
The award is given to to projects where the predicted modeling energy savings indicated a 30% or higher than code performance. Following the recognition event, the US Green Building Student Chapter at Cornell will host a LEED Building Showcase, on the basics of the LEED certification standards and how Cornell has decided to pursue LEED for future projects in the Green Building Initiative.

The Luxury of Less
Sauerbruch Hutton's projects and buildings are recognized for integration of sustainability and quality design. They are particularly interested in the adaptation and development of the post-industrial city in all its structural, ecological, spatial, physical, and metaphysical aspects.

Strengthening Educational Institutions for Vulnerable Children: The Case of Zambia MacLellan is interested especially in the linkages between children's health, environment and insecure land tenure in urban areas of sub-Saharan Africa.

Film Screening of "The Age of Stupid" and Panel Discussion
This documentary looks at today's global climate crisis through the eyes of an archivist from 2055 trying to understand how the world was destroyed. A panel discussion with Professors James Lassoie (Natural Resources), Aaron Sachs (History), and student leaders will follow.
