Host an Exchange student for the Summer
I am writing as a representative of USA Immersion, a non profit
organization that brings international students (ages 13 to 17 years
old) from Europe, usually France or Spain to Ithaca for a Total
Immersion experience.
Host families’ responsibilities are to treat students like members of
their families and include them in daily chores and family activities
so they can get to know our American way of life and improve their
English. Time commitment is 4 weeks or less in the month of July.
There is a $500 voluntary food and transportation stipend available
for those families who request it.
Families must provide a bedroom of their own for the student or one
shared with a family member of the same gender. The process begins
with a home visit from myself, then the prospective host family must
complete the online application and submit to a background check.
The students who apply also complete an application so that we may
match up compatibilities. Students are also tested on their English
abilities and will be fully fluent upon arrival.
