Global Climate Change
Curriculum Development Opportunity
Develop, implement and assess new climate change curriculum.
Learn to use NASA geospatial data to develop new project-based
climate change units for middle and high school STEM classrooms.
* 2010 Summer Institute - A select group of eight middle school STEM and
high school earth science and environmental science teachers from across
New York will participate in a two-week summer workshop. Teachers must
be committed to learn climate change science impacts on our planet and
work together to create inquiry- and project-based learning
experiences and
lessons that highlight and integrate NASA earth observation
system data and
models. New units will be piloted in the 2010-2011 academic year.
The workshop will be held at Clarkson University, Potsdam NY,
Monday through Thursday: August 2-5 AND August 9-12. Participants are
expected to attend the full two weeks. A stipend of $1700 will
be given to all
participants. There are some travel scholarships available as needed.
* 2011 Summer Institute - Additional teachers will be invited to
learn climate
change science and further refine these project-based climate change
modules for use in their classrooms.
