Since you don't know SVG, I suggest that you try hand coding a few SVG files that contain a subset of the type of data/display you want. In your case, a few simple schematics will do. I suggest this because you need to understand what your program is supposed to produce if you are going to write that code. You can write a C/C++ program that generates SVG using file I/O. As you learn more about what you are trying to do, you may find needs/uses for the libraries suggested by Holger.
