So, what about publishing the dependency to /contrib in the meantime until we get to the /release which has it. When we get to a /release with the package, we could publish a new version of the /contrib package that is empty, but depends on the /release version? Will this work? Then, if someone wants/needs to bump to a newer version, we can build a new package for /contrib which does not permit the installation of the /release package.
