Thanks Brad, but I'm pretty sure you're incorrect about Sim City. I have 3 versions of it including the C-64, and they all say 1989. This also jives with my memory. I also researched it heavily when it won the GOTCHA award for 1989. I had heard reports of '87 as well, but could never substantiate anything other than 1989. Does anybody else have any physical evidence to the contrary? Unfortunately, all of my Computer Gaming Worlds are in storage, or I would check that way as another source (but I believe I already did).
Otherwise, Skychase was 1988 and therefore before Sim City. I just read up on the history of Maxis, and SimCity was actually released for the commodore in 1987, and was the first game Will Wright (co-founder of Maxis) got published. However, that was before Maxis. Jeff Braun & he formed Maxis shortly after, and co-published with Broderbund for a short time, which is apparently the timeframe that Skychase was published, though there is little mention of it around the net. Contradicting release years (88 and 90) around the internet lead me to believe it was re-released in some way shape or form as well.
