I have seen Slash releases of many Sierra titles, such as Kings Quest 3,
Rise of the Dragon, Codename Iceman, Laura Bow 1, QFG4, etc.. In fact,
Sierra seems to have gotten cheaper and cheaper as time went on. I have seen
several releases of "Conquests of Camelot". After the initial release, they
released the same thing with just the 3.5 inch disks. Then they had another
release with a white inner box instead of the standard sierra box, but it
opened the same way as the standard box did. The outer sleeve was a bit
flimsier, but the inner contents were the same. Finally, they did the Slash
garbage release.

Subject: [SWCollect] Slash versions of Sierra titles?

I can't believe I didn't notice this before, but I have three Zeliards from
Sierra (same slipcover-over-box format as Codename: Iceman, King's Quest 4,
LL1, Sorcerian, Thexder, etc. -- you know, all the 1987-1990 Sierra
releases)
and I took one down to record some sound from it and lo and behold, it's
different. Meaning:

- Slipcover is printed thin cardboard, not glossy like original
- Slipcover has same illustrations but the font used for the lower-left
corner
infobox is different
- Box is white cardboard with a top flap instead of the normal 2-piece
printed
box
- Instructions, disks, etc. were in a white envelope inside the box
- All inside materials were xerox'd
- Diskettes were plain label with 24-pin dot-matrix printing

Sound familiar?! ;-) If that doesn't scream "Slash release" then I don't
know what does.

My question: Has anyone else seen Slash releases of Sierra 1987-1990
titles?
