I have submitted my patch as an attachment to the trac ticket (http:// mirror1.cvsdude.com/trac/osflash/swfmill/ticket/3). I had very little success in creating either Mac or Windows builds that were statically linked, by thankfully Dan is back and he's offered to sort that out this weekend. I'm going to keep hacking on other Flash 8 tag support over the weekend, so hopefully we'll have a worthwhile update to swfmill soon!
