i think the most powerful, but also most difficult, approach would be to
use swfmill's inherent xslt capabilities- xslt can do a heck of a lot,
and swfmill allows you to transparently use swf (transformed to
swfml-ll) as input and output.

for simpler stuff, binary replacement on the swf or even textual
replacement on the swfml-ll might be a better option.
