I experienced the same!
And as intermediate solution compiled in a VM under Windows with Mint; successfully.

I will send you the paper I created which summarizes all steps I did so far. Perhaps that fives you some additional ideas and together we succeed.
I plan to add my findings (once I succeed) to the swftools wiki.

hello,

i'm planning on using swfrender to convert SWF files to PNG for our company.
swfrender would run for regular users on a windows pc. i'll be building a
frontend app where users can select a folder with SWF files and it will call
swfrender to convert it to images.
btw, is it possible to render it as a JPG instead of PNG? would be good as we
normally use JPGs to save space.

i tried to compile 0.9.2 on windows with the guide from the FAQ but failed :>
could you please release a newer windows build? we need the -r flag with
swfrender
and it's not available in 0.9.0.
any additional hints on how to compile it under windows would be appreciated.
i followed all the steps[1] but ended up with: configure couldn't find zlib
(even
though i installed zlib from gnuwin32 and passed -l/gw32/include to CPPFLAGS).

i think i'll try cross compiling under linux to produce a windows exe as
mentioned
in the faq :)

also i was curious if there's been alot of changes/improvements between the
stable
release and the git version (it's a year appart).
