Dear all,

I am happy to announce the availability of the third KiWi prerelease.
KiWi is a platform for developing semantic social media applications
based on what we call the "Wiki philosophy". You can learn more about
the KiWi project at http://www.kiwi-project.eu/

The KiWi system is constantly improving, and this release features the
following highlights:
- facetted and semantic search (based on SOLR); facetting is possible
over tags, types, persons, and arbitrary RDF datatype properties
(configurable in admin)
- improvements in the Dashboard (now keeps track of last activities of
the user)
- improvements in TagIT (now capable of quickly clustering tens of
thousands of points, probably more)
- many importing functionalities (RSS, IkeWiki, ...)

You can give it a try by one of the following means:
- trying out the public showcase at
http://showcase.kiwi-project.eu/KiWi/ (may be down from time to time
since it runs the development version)
- downloading the ready-to-run binary release which comes bundled with
JBoss 4.2.3 and the H2 database (requires JDK6 to run!) from
http://kenai.com/projects/kiwi/downloads; run start.sh or start.bat in
the bin/ subdirectory
- downloading the source release from
http://kenai.com/projects/kiwi/downloads and deploying it on your own
Java EE server and database (we have made good experiences with
PostgreSQL and H2)
- checking out the development version from our Subversion repository at
https://svn.salzburgresearch.at/svn/kiwi/KiWi

In any case, if you try out KiWi and encounter any issues, please be
sure to report them in our issue tracking system at
http://wiki.kiwi-project.eu/atlassian-jira

And now: enjoy KiWi!

Greetings,

--
Sebastian
