The deal on the table would eliminate the plan to toll I-80.

In general, there has been investment in the Turnpike in recent years;
both the Northeast Extension and the east-west Mainline have seen a
variety of rehab projects.

For what it's worth, the 10 miles between the East-West Mainline and
the Lansdale (Kulpsville) exit are being widened in a multi-year
project that started this year. Given the lack of existing
right-of-way width, this exercise will require replacement of most of
the highway bridges over the turnpike.

Two lanes of traffic will be maintained, but shoulders will likely be
restricted -- becomes an issue in case of accident.

I-80 in PA has been a truckers' favorite since it opened in the late
1960s - early 1970s because it bypasses both the PA Turnpike and the
NY Thruway. It, too, has seen much rehabilitation in recent years.
