We have a request from Wycliffe UK to help them with a project that involves facilitating a group of scholars working on Easy English Bibles and Commentaries.

The project aims to produce texts that are readable by low vocabulary pastors and missionaries-- typically people who don't have good resources in their native tongue but can read limited English.

Currently they have a set of VBA macros for Word that allows their authors to check their work. The process for installation is a little tedious for their user base. You can find STOCK INSTRUCTIONS and their macros here:

http://crosswire.org/sword/ALPHAcckswwlkrfre22034820285912/ee

These are some areas where they have difficulty and would like suggestions/help:

o Authors use different versions of Windows and Word and these
slight differences can cause problems with the macros.

o Don't have a proper installation program - just have a set of instructions that new authors have to follow. Most authors are not expert Word users (or expert computer users) and this can cause problems.

o Evaluate current set of macros from a software developer's point of view and suggest improvements that could be made. One possibility might be to replace VBA macros with a stand-alone exe program.

If you might be interested in helping with any part of this project, we ask that you first get a "user's point of view", by downloading the macros and following the instructions at the above URL.

This is a great opportunity to help a wonderful project for our Lord! Thank you for your consideration and looking forward to your comments and involvement!

-Troy A. Griffitts.
