OK - Admittedly, I could have used http even though I was using https, principally because some time ago I installed the Firefox extension called *https-everywhere*.
See https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere I could either add an exception rule, or I could use a different browser for http Even so, it would be sensible for CrossWire to renew its certificate.
