Podcasts permit a shift of listening time from a set appointment to virtually
any convenient occasion. I do it while taking my daily (more or less) 3 mile
walk, while I’m “plodding along”.

While there are thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of great podcasts from
other sources, the ones sponsored via public radio have been vetted through the
worthy objectives of the medium.

Here’s what I’ve been listening to recently. I hope you might find these
suggestions — in roughly 90 minute bites -- helpful in enhancing your own
enjoyment of radio, our favorite medium.

“Labor's stunning landslide, plus the hangover from Australia's wine boom”
LATE NIGHT LIVE - ABC Radio National
Laura Tingle and Niki Savva dissect Labor's landslide victory in the federal
election, and examine what went wrong for the Coalition. Plus, writer Nick Ryan
explains why there's a glut of wine in Australia. (54”)

[Ed. Note: The US and NY’s state governments have ballyhhooed enormous
spending and effort to extend fully modernized Internet services to the entire
population, but only with middling success. This program from the year 2020
and Australia still resonates today with the experience of that here.]
“What happened to the NBN, Australia's 'information superhighway'?”
REAR VISION - ABC Radio National
The National Broadband Network could have been Australia’s landmark
twenty-first century infrastructure project but it became a political hot
potato, leaving us with an expensive, compromised system that’s in need of an
upgrade before it’s even finished. (29”)
