Podcasts permit a shift of listening time from a set appointment to virtually
any convenient occasion. I do it while taking my daily (more or less) 3 mile
walk, while I’m “plodding along”.

While there are thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of great podcasts from
other sources, the ones sponsored via public radio have been vetted through the
worthy objectives of the medium.

Here’s what I’ve been listening to recently. I hope you might find these
suggestions — in roughly 90 minute bites -- helpful in enhancing your own
enjoyment of radio, our favorite medium.

“It’s Not My Fault”
HIDDEN BRAIN - NPR and Hidden Brain Media
It’s not easy for most of us to receive negative feedback. Even when the person
delivering that feedback is constructive and reasonable, we often feel the urge
to defend ourselves. This week, we look at the psychology of defensiveness with
neuroscientist Emily Falk. We’ll explore what causes so many of us to resist
constructive criticism, and how we can get better at giving and receiving such
feedback. Then, in the latest installment of the ongoing series “Your Questions
Answered,” psychologist Ciara Greene returns to the show to answer your
questions about memory and forgetfulness. (78”)

“Questions over the Australian War Memorial Literary Prize, and Trouble for the
CIA”
LATE NIGHT LIVE - ABC Radio National
The Australian War Memorial has overruled a decision to award a military
history literary prize to Chris Masters’ book, Flawed Hero: Truth, Lies and War
Crimes about the alleged war criminal Ben Roberts-Smith. According to the
memorial chair, the rules prevent established authors from being considered.
And the troubled history of the CIA since 9/11. (54”)
