One wonders if DW would be facing the same problems if it weren't emphasizing video in lieu of audio programming (in English, anyway...)
It would be an interesting thought experiment to assess how much DW spends on video programming vs. the number of "consumers" it reaches. Then compare that to what a 24/7 stream of audio programming in English would run. I'll admit to a bias favoring audio, yet I see the trends out there that say that many previously-audio podcasts are now transitioning to video.
