Applications are invited for a possible fixed-term Associate Lectureship (Level 
A) in European philosophy and the history of philosophy at Macquarie University 
for 2008. Applicants should have or be close to the completion of a Ph.D in 
Philosophy. This will be a full-time or appropriate fractional appointment 
depending on the successful applicant and the specific teaching duties agreed. 
Units to be taught are:

Semester 1
PHIL 356 Contemporary European Philosophy 

Semester 2
PHIL 245 History of Philosophy #1
PHIL 254 Freedom and Alienation

Salary: annual rate of $61,155 to $65,600 pa, depending on qualifications and 
duties, or pro-rata for fractional appointments, plus employer superannuation 
contributions of 9%.
The position will be a fixed-term appointment for 2008 only, as appropriate for 
the scheduling of the relevant units to be taught by each appointee. The 
position is primarily funded from ARC Discovery Grants held by members of the 
Department. The appointee will also be given support in developing their 
research programme.
