Notice: Professor Simon Critchley (New School for Social Research – New York)
A Forum On: Infinitely Demanding: Ethics of Commitment, Politics of Resistance.

The 2008 Philosophy of Religion Research Seminar Series, in conjunction with The
Department of Philosophy at Macquarie University are pleased to host a special
forum with Professor Simon Critchley focused on his recent book Infinitely
Demanding: Ethics of Commitment, Politics of Resistance. 

When: May 24, 3pm-5.30pm
Where: The Refectory at the University of Sydney -  in the South-Western corner
of the main quad (downstairs, beneath the Arts Faculty office).

Format: Professor Critchley will begin proceedings by offering a paper on
politics and belief following the argument of Infinitely Demanding; the paper
will draw out the significance of the text for philosophical thought about
religion. The session then moves into a series of short papers from local and
interstate academics offering different perspectives on the text. This will be
followed by a response from Simon. The day will end with some questions and
general discussion from the floor.
