Sydney HLP Seminar Thursday, 29 May 2008 On 26 February 2007, the International 
Court of Justice handed down alandmark judgment in the case of Bosnia and 
Herzegovina v. Serbia andMontenegro. This case resulted in the first judicial 
finding that astate was responsible for failing to prevent and punish genocide. 
MagdaKaragiannakis, counsel for Bosnia and Herzegovina, will consider thiscase, 
and through the relevant facts, address the substantive andprocedural legal 
standards which are applicable to establishing breachesof the Genocide 
Convention and the attribution of such breaches tosovereign states.  The 
seminar: 'State Responsibility for Genocide - the ICJ Genocide Case'will be 
held at the Assembly Hall, The Faculty of Law, University ofSydney 173 - 175 
Phillip Street Sydney at 6:00pm for 6:30pm start Lightrefreshments will be
