WHAT PHILOSOPHERS THINK
Some themes from "What philosophers think", edited by Julian Baggini and Jeremy
Strangroom (a series of interviews originally published in "The Philosophers'
Magazine"). Discussion of some ideas from philosophers including Simon
Blackburn, Michael Dummett, Peter Singer, Stuart Hampshire, Mary Midgley, Ray
Monk, Hilary Putnam, Richard Swinburne, Jonathan Ree, Ted Honderich, Mary
Warnock...
Location: members bar, floor 1 (keep winding up to the top of the stairs), The
Gaelic Club, 64 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, Sydney (100 metres from a
Central railway station exit). Look for a group of people with notepads and
books who are taking it in turns to speak. Usually we'll be armed with the
Oxford Companion to Philosophy, and a bell. Probably we'll be out on the
terrace.
No cost. No prerequisite reading. All welcome!
