Philo Agora's talk next Tuesday Tuesday, August 5 will be Derek
Maitland on Philosophy and the Future
Derek will argue that if we take the powerful social, economic and
bio-technological trends that are leading us into the future, it
could well be said that philosophy
faces not just its greatest challenge as the "science of the soul,"
but the question of its survival as an arbiter of human behaviour.
Derek, a journalist and author, is one of the founding members of Philo Agora
Tuesday August 5. at the Fair Trade Coffee House, 33 Glebe Point
Road, Glebe, $6.00 includes a free cup of coffee or tea. Start at
7.15 for 7.30. Finish at 9.00pm. If you want a meal, come
early. All profits from the Fair Trade Cafe go to Third World development.
