Greetings all,

This coming Monday, Sept 1 1.00-2.30 in the philosophy common room Ali Navabi
will talk to us "On spurious egocentricity"

Abstract

The subjectivity or egocentricity of tense is a theme discussed in passing
by McTaggart in The Nature of Existence and advocated by old B-theorists
of time such as Russell and Ayer.In this talk I, show how the
egocentricity of tense is implied by the token reflexive analysis of tense
and how it amounts to an a priori argument against the objectivity of
becoming. I then attempt to use Mctaggart's observation to construct a
reductio against egocentricity of tense by invoking Kaplan's distinction
of utterance and sentence-in-context.

See you there...
