The Political Philosophy Discussion Group will meet this Thursday (the 19th
of February) between 2pm and 4pm in the Philosophy Common Room (located in
the Main Quadrangle) at the University Of Sydney. The journal article to
be discussed is L. L. Ypi, 'Statist Cosmopolitanism', The Journal Of
Political Philosophy, vol. 16, no. 1, March 2008, pp. 48–71. All are
welcome!

In addition to discussing journal articles, we hope to be able to host
presentations applying various philosophical methodologies/theories to
topical political, social and economic issues. This is an attempt to
remedy, if only in a minor way, the lack of argumentative rigour that
often characterises public debate. The other goal is that this will serve
as an ecumenical philosophical forum that bridges the usually misleading,
and almost always unproductive analytical-continental divide. The format
for presentations will be loose and the atmosphere will be casual. Expert
knowledge of the empirical issue being discussed is not expected. Anyone
interested in presenting something is encouraged to contact us.

The Political Philosophy Discussion Group will meet every second Thursday.
If you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact myself,
Benjamin Herscovitch: [email protected], Nick Malpas:
[email protected], or Kyla Reid: [email protected].

All the best.
