Ref. 21944 Post-doctoral Research fellow in Clinical Ethics - Start New 
Application 

The appointee will work with Professor Rogers to develop research in Clinical 
Ethics in one of the following areas: 

1) Ethical issues in surgery, broadly conceived. This may include issues to do 
with innovative surgery, relationships with industry, consent for 
identity-changing neurosurgery, or research in surgical practice. 

2) Public health ethics, in particular the implications for public health of 
theories of relational autonomy and vulnerability, notions of individual 
responsibility, and the role of paternalism. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing a 
discrete project within one of the areas of interest outlined above, leading to 
publication of results and preparation of related funding applications. 

You will work independently on the agreed project, as well as be involved in 
research with Professor Rogers, and may be involved in preparation of grant 
applications, supervision of research students and other research training. 

This project is funded by Macquarie University Concentration of Research 
Excellence (CORE) support funds. The appointment is at Level A or B, dependent 
upon the skills and qualifications of the successful applicant.
