Hi philosophers,
Re: Announcement from The Russellian Society, Sydney University's Student
Philosophy Society
Are your looking for a new dose of philosophical stimulation and enjoyment?
Well, here is the answer to your troubles! Block out a window in your diary
for this upcoming Monday 19 October 2009 between 6pm and 8pm, and bring
yourself along to the Quadrangle Building, General Lecture Theatre N205 at
Sydney University. Here, we will introduce you to Dr Kerry Sanders, who has
kindly offered to speak to us about (late) Enlightenment ideas in film.
Dr Sanders' presentation will include short screenings from each of two
magnificently different films ('Crash' and 'To Kill a Mockingbird'), so you
can further appreciate and clarify for yourself, some of the key
philosophical ideas under discussion. Of course, there will also be
opportunities for you to weigh-in with your own questions and observations,
a process that Dr Sanders facilitates so well, and many people enjoy.
Dr Sanders has a PhD in philosophy from The University of Sydney, and
presently lectures at Sydney College of the Arts, and The Centre for
Continuing Education.
Make sure you are on time, or you will miss out on the sherbs and nibbles,
prior to the start of the talk at 6:30pm. There is no entry charge,
especially if you are a University of Sydney Union ACCESS card holder.
However, if you would like to donate say $1 or $2 to help supplement the
catering funding, then we won't knock you back.
We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you then.
Best wishes from the Russellian Society Executive
(Jonny, Nikki, Dan and Jayne)
