17th Annual AAPAE Conference 15th-17th June, University of Sydney The organising committee of the 17th Annual AAPAE conference is very pleased to announce a new addition to an exceptional program of distinguished guest speakers such as Professor Peter Singer. A government supported initiative is on offer at no additional cost to delegates: "The science is barrelling forward, but the ethics aren't ... I don't want the science to slow down. I want the ethics to catch up." Peter Singer In a workshop at the AAPAE conference, the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science & Research is inviting ethicists to discuss what principles are at play in dealing with new technologies, particularly nanotechnologies and biotechnologies. Participants will be invited to discuss issues of vital significance to current policy, and to participate in a thought experiment on adopting technologies.
