Philo Agora's talk next Tuesday April 5 will be Mary Hendriks:
Unlearning. Step 1 in becoming a Global Thinker.
Mary Hendriks will discuss how unlearning is the key to thinking
globally, and how thinking globally is the path to effective sharing
of this third rock from the sun. Her talk includes references to
the work of Mark Gerzon, from his recent book "Global Citizens, How
our vision of the world is outdated, and what we can do about it".
Learning is highly valued throughout our lives, we are continually
encouraged to add to our knowledge. But, in our modern world, do we
understand what it means to UN-learn? Lao Tsu is reported to have
said to attain knowledge, add things every day, to attain wisdom,
subtract things every day.
Mary is passionate about the new energy era. She works with a
company promoting renewable energy, and volunteers with solar and
alternative technology organisations, and would consider herself a
contemporary thinker. Kayaking on Sydney Harbour is one of her many activities
