Here are the details for the next USyd Postgrad Work in Progress talk:

Speaker: Robyn Kath

Title: Harm and the Ends of Life

Can coming into existence or going out of it (being born and dying,
approximately) harm or benefit a person? Standard accounts of harm involve
a comparison between two states of a person. At the ends of life there
aren't two states to compare. I will explore some of the apparent
motivations for redefining harm to extend it beyond the ends of life, and
suggest that these motivations are largely misguided.

Time: 4:30pm, Mon Sep 23
Location: S401, Main Quad, University of Sydney
Hope to see you all there,
Simon Varey
Postgraduate Colloquium Co-ordinator
