Hi all, We’re advertising for two 3-year Career Development Fellowships in Philosophy within the School of Humanities and Social Inquiry (HSI Philosophy) at the University of Wollongong, commencing January 2023. The appointments will be at level A or B, depending on experience.
The area of research specialisation is open. Experience in teaching at least one of the following areas is essential: Philosophy of Mind and Cognition; Philosophy of Gender and Race; Social Philosophy. The ability to teach in areas of Applied Philosophy, and in Biomedical Ethics in particular, would be an asset. These are teaching intensive positions, where the primary purpose is to make significant contributions to teaching within the Philosophy program. However, research is also an essential component for these positions, and applicants will be expected to have strong records of research relative to opportunity and be able to contribute high-quality research within the School. In all cases, research and teaching expertise should complement, rather than duplicate, that of current staff. Applicants must hold a PhD in Philosophy, with a record of excellence in teaching and research. To qualify for a Career Development Fellowship, applicants must have at least 6 months or 1 semester/trimester of academic employment in an Australian university in the last 5 years. All candidates who meet this qualification are encouraged to apply, regardless of whether they currently reside and work in Australia or not. Candidates from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds are very strongly encouraged to apply. The closing date for applications is Tuesday, December 13th.
