+++ Apologies for cross-posting +++

Dear all,

I would like to invite you to attend the interdisciplinary conference Living to
Tell, Telling to Live: Prospects and Challenges of Self-Narration. You can find
all relevant information on the conference
website<https://sites.google.com/view/self-narration-conference>.

Date: 15 and 16 February 2024

Location: C122 Function Room, 25 Wally's Walk, Macquarie University,
Wallumattagal Campus (North Ryde) | in person only

Topic: In recent years, research in philosophy of mind and the cognitive
sciences has assigned a special role to self-narration for self-understanding
and sense-making. For example, it has been argued that narrative engagement can
help navigate and negotiate one’s sense of self in situations of loss, crisis,
and transformation. At the same time, work in narratology has considered the
conditions and characteristics of the narrative representation of lived
experiences. But what are the possibilities and limitations of self-narration?
To what extent is self-narration constrained or even limited by socio-cultural
norms, expectations, and practices? The purpose of this conference is to
explore and discuss these questions with leading scholars from philosophy,
literary studies, psychology, anthropology, and Egyptology.

Speakers: Karin Kukkonen (University of Oslo), Albert Newen (Ruhr University
Bochum), Alexandra Effe (University of Oslo), Julia Hamilton (Macquarie), Emily
Hughes (University of York, UK), Daniel D. Hutto (University of Wollongong),
Doug McConnell (Macquarie), Richard Menary and Hoda Mostafavi (Macquarie), Kate
Rossmanith (Macquarie), and Penny Van Bergen (University of Wollongong).

Registration: Participation is free, but places are limited. Please register by
following this
link<https://sites.google.com/view/self-narration-conference/registration>.
Places will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.

This conference is funded by the Australian Research Council (DE210100115) and
