Dear Colleagues (with apologies for cross-posting),

I am pleased to share the next episode of my podcast series, Rethinking South
Asian Philosophy, created in collaboration with SBS
Spice<https://www.sbs.com.au/audio/podcast/spice>. SBS Spice is a digital
platform hosted for and by South Asians, presented by the national broadcaster
SBS<https://www.sbs.com.au/audio>.

The series explores a range of topics and emerging conversations in South Asian
philosophy as practised and discussed both in Australia and by philosophers
working in or originating from the region. It is aimed at both philosophers and
a wider general audience.

Episode 3, Rethinking South Asian Philosophy: Where Meditation Becomes Insight,
is now available online.

Abstract

How does meditation generate psychological benefits? Can deep meditative
experiences inform philosophical insight? In our third episode of this series,
I speak with Assoc. Prof. Bronwyn Finnigan (ANU) and Dr. Leesa Davis (Deakin)
about Buddhist philosophical approaches to meditation, non-dual philosophical
thought, and the aesthetic and contemplative aspects of Japanese dry gardens.
We also talk about the fun and joy of introducing undergraduate students to
non-Western philosophical traditions, and its importance in reviving philosophy
curriculum in Australian universities.
