A reminder that entries for the AAP Media Prize will close on *20 March 2026* at 8.00 pm AEDT.
The Australasian Association of Philosophy (AAP) offers an annual monetary prize for the best philosophical piece or pieces published by a professional philosopher in the popular media in Australasia during the previous calendar year. Since 2025, winners of the prize may also be invited to present the Alan Saunders Lecture, co-hosted with the ABC. The prize recognises outstanding public philosophy and celebrates philosophy that reaches beyond the academy to engage wider audiences. Recent winners include Alexandre Lefebvre for 'Rawls the Redeemer' (Aeon Magazine), Christopher Lean and Kate E. Lynch for 'De-Extinction Part 1 & Part 2' (The Philosopher’s Zone), and Mark Alfano and Mandi Astola for 'A sense of humour – even a dark one – is a moral virtue' (Psyche/Aeon). If you published an eligible piece in 2025, or know a colleague who did, we encourage you to submit an entry.
