This where I disagree with you. Either you use openlszo as a whole 
framework and you just don't need symfony. But tomcat+php that's non-sense.

This is where I just tell you : a filter and a view.yml in your apps 
telling output=XML and some libs to helps formating XML the way 
openlazso want it ...

This might be fun, you'll build a backend with openlazso frontend but 
not very usefull so ...

See tomcat is non-sense, and you should see openlazso as a graphical 
rich frontend for your application...
