Hi Fabian,
I see the problem, that symfony does not show the developer the "right  
way". When symfony defines all helpers as static methods, then e.g.  
all peer classes of the model would be included in this "definition"  
and that would break among other things the MVC pattern.

I do not like the idea of "go on and use everything you want in your  
templates and good luck with finding the right way".

symfony should show the developers a straight forward way, which stuff  
they should use in the templates, like "you only should load helpers  
with the $sf_helper class, you could also use other classes (like the  
peer classes) but then its your fault"

This assignment would be analog to the big discussion of securing  
symfony applications (how to protect *_dev.php front controllers on  
prod environments), which was discussed here a few weeks ago.
