- there are two types of notations: ]a,b] and (a,b]. Both describe
interval from a exclusively to b inclusively. I prefer second notation
because at least opening/closing braces are balanced. In the first
notation it looks like just two closing brackets.

Well, it's mostly a matter of personal preference. When I used to work with set theory, I always preferred (a, b].
