Functional Tests and only a "not saying anything" example for a unit

There is nothing related to Symfony about writing unit tests as this
only uses the tested class. the Symfony doc is not about documenting
PHPUnit. they have their own doc.
The functional test section is not related to symfony too and is good
documented, with this argument you must shorten this documentation too
or?
I'm wondering why the main focus is on functional test with all the
know-en problems.

I think a short example with link to further information could help
their too.

the functional test section *is* related to Symfony as it uses the TestCase provided by the framework to extend PHPUnit.
