That's a good way to do it yourself, but you can also just use:
{{ app.environment }}
app is an instance of
Symfony\Bundle\FrameworkBundle\Templating\GlobalVariables - if you check
the class you'll see it gives you access to those services: security,
user, request, session and to the kernel.debug and kernel.environment
parameters.
