What does this do exactly? I've never seen this syntax but if it does what
I think it does I feel like this is a bad practice to promote to users.
Chances are I am wrong on what it is doing and it isn't as bad as I think
it is but that just makes it more clear to me that this is not something
regular users should be asked to do regularly. I see it ending badly for
many.
