Thanks for replying. It's nice to see some discussion taking place on the 
issue. I'd say benchmarks provide *some *insight into the baseline 
performance that can be achieved with a framework. I think that's important 
if performance is important to an application, which it often is for high 
traffic websites especially. I think it's a well known fact that there is a 
relationship between the performance of a website and user experience and 
revenue. With that in mind I think it would be good if the framework had 
some measurable  performance goals in mind.
