Actually you pass the 2 letter codes to symfony and it handles the 
translations. So all is well now I guess. I still do not see the point 
in offering this default of simply showing all languages/countries. In 
my case I somehow assumed it would contain a "sensible" default. Now I 
know that most people do not seem to agree on what a "sensible" default 
is. Then again this way its optimized for quick prototyping, where 
nobody will look too closely at what is in there.

So from my POV, the case is closed :)
